Survey in Hispanic American Literature

Participants will consider the works of several seminal writers in Hispanic America from the colonial period to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the careful reading of short texts, including essays, poetry, and short fiction. In addition, the course considers how historical and political events have influenced literary expression. Participants select and/or adapt text and develop lessons for use in world language, language arts, and TBE reading classes. All of the texts are read in their original Spanish versions.
