Digital Research Strategies and Practices for the Classroom

This three graduate credit course examines the proper way to develop student learning when researching in the classroom and educational tools accessible to the classroom teacher. Teachers will also enhance their knowledge of various digital research tools and resources through hands on exploration and experimentation. This course includes the delivery of the syllabus, effective online lectures, readings and assignments on web pages; discussions and presentations through online message boards, e-mail and chat; interactive tutorials and labs; and on-line assessments.  Participants determine what aspects of their curriculums are best suited to presentation online; create new approaches through the use of ALA Research Methods and Practices, as well as associated independent learning experiences for students that encourage the growth and integration of technology according to the Massachusetts Technology Frameworks in the classroom environment. Course participants will use these course tools and resources to conduct a final digital research project of their own that can be used in their classrooms.
