This course focuses on evidence-based strategies for teaching reading and literacy. Using Know Better, Do Better by David and Meredith Liben as the foundation, candidates will critically examine best practices for literacy instruction. The course will also incorporate insights from The Reading Comprehension Blueprint and Activity Book and Uncovering the Logic of English to provide a comprehensive approach to vocabulary, phonics, comprehension, and language development.


Candidates will learn to evaluate current practices, implement research-backed methods, and reflect on their impact in the classroom. Through discussion, readings, and hands-on activities, students will gain tools to ensure equitable literacy outcomes for all learners.
