Reading and Writing Non-Fiction in the Primary Grades

This course explores techniques and strategies for using nonfiction texts in the classroom. Students will consider comprehension strategies that support reading to learn nonfiction and consider models of instruction that integrate nonfiction text across content areas. Students will also consider strategies that support primary grade expository writing including the use of mentor texts, author studies, and common core standards.
