Including Special Needs in the Classroom

Designed to assist classroom teachers in recognizing typical and atypical development, to assist teachers in assessing deviance levels between handicapped and non-handicapped students, and to strategize on the most effective means of ameliorating differences. Theoretical constructs, handicapping conditions, and associated learning problems are examined. The most common approaches to both formal and informal assessment and to methodological approaches for reducing the gap between abilities and achievement through inclusive participation in the least restrictive instructional setting are also explained.
