Liz Angell has been teaching for over10 years. She is currently a full time ELL specialist in the Quincy Public Schools. Liz has taught in a variety of areas ranging from elementary school through college. Her experiences include middle school intensive special needs program for Boston Public Schools, elementary and middle school Special Education, middle school Reading and in a middle school summer Art program for Quincy Public Schools, and writing and pre-college reading skills at Bunker Hill Community College. She received her Bachelors in Special Education and Visual Arts from Bridgewater State University and continued on at BSU for her Masters in Education as a Reading Specialist. She lives in Boston with her husband and children.

Marilyn is a long time teacher of several courses for NCTA. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master's from Tufts University in Secondary Curriculum and earned a certificate from the University of Massachusetts Boston Graduate Program in Dispute Resolution. She is a high school Social Studies teacher for 30 years plus, founder of her school's Peer Mediation Program 18 years ago and a Mediation trainer for schools, private enterprises, community organizations and the courts.

Heather Cunningham has been teaching for 15 years. She is currently a part time Reading Specialist at Height Elementary School in Sharon. Prior to this position, she was a Literacy Coach at Sharon Middle School, a reading specialist in the Foxborough Public Schools, and a third grade teacher at East Elementary in Sharon. She has taught and facilitated several literacy based professional development workshops and study groups and has presented several workshops for both teachers and parents on reading comprehension. She received both her Bachelors and Masters in Reading from Bridgewater State College. She lives in Wrentham with her husband and three children. She enjoys skiing, boating, the beach and reading.
ED DONNELLY
Mr. Ed Donnelly is a Technical Assistance Specialist at Education Developmental Center, Inc. He is an educator, administrator, and a leader in the field of bullying prevention. He taught special education for students of all ages and academic and social abilities in the Boston Public Schools for 18 years. Subsequently, he held several administrative positions at West Roxbury High School, including assistant headmaster. When the Boston Public Schools initiated their High School Renewal Plan in 2004, Mr. Donnelly designed and led Brook Farm Academy, a small business-themed high school. In 2010, he served as the central figure for the Bully Prevention and Intervention Initiative of the Boston Public Schools. Mr. Donnelly currently consults with Leadership Matters ,Inc.

Ms. Donnelly holds licenses as Principal/Assistant Principal Grades 9-12, Administrator of Special Education, Teacher of Children with Moderate Disabilities, Teacher of Children with Severe Special Needs, Consulting Teacher of Reading Grades K-12, and Teacher of Elementary School Age Children.
At Cambridge College, Ms. Donnelly is a Senior Instructor in the Master Degree program for Moderate Special Needs. She is an Adjunct Professor at Framingham State University, teaching online courses for Norfolk County Teachers’ Association.
Additionally, Ms. Donnelly continues to work as a Special Education Administrator in the Boston Public Schools. She has held the positions of Curriculum Access Specialist, Assistant Program Director and Assistant Director for Secondary Special Education.
Her other positions within the Boston Public Schools include Literacy Specialist, Lead and Mentor Teacher, Creator and Facilitator of the MTEL Foundations of Reading Workshop. She has also taught Moderate and Severe Special Needs students, all levels.

Sarah has been teaching within the Massachusetts public schools for over 17 years. She spent her first five years as a preschool special needs teacher for Scituate Public Schools. She went on to teach children with Autism Spectrum Disorders for several years in the Falmouth Public Schools. Sarah is currently employed by the Whitman-Hanson school district. She spent nine years teaching first grade before moving on to become a reading specialist in the k-2 elementary school.

Sarah has taught and facilitated professional development workshops on topics including reading comprehension strategies, PDD/autism support systems, sign language, and six traits of writing. Recently, she worked with several colleagues to develop literacy curriculum for netbooks so that teachers would become more comfortable implementing this tech tool in their classrooms.
Sarah’s interest in literacy topics and her experience with diverse student populations have led her to develop courses for NCTA including Developing Literacy First, Data Driven Differentiation, and Working with Words. She feels these professional development opportunities deepen her knowledge of the topics and appreciation for the craft of teaching as colleagues share, learn, and grow with one another.
Sarah lives on Cape Cod with her husband, grown son, and dog Milo. Her adult daughter lives in New York City and teaches ELA in the Bronx. Sarah enjoys gardening, reading, and long walks with Milo.

Bill is a native of Massachusetts having been born and raised within the state. He attended Boston State College where he received his bachelor degree in education and a master’s degree in administration. Additionally, he obtained his educational doctorate degree from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst in the area of educational policy, research, and administration. As a result, he was invited to serve on the staff of six different colleges and three universities.
During his academic lifetime, he has taught over thirty (30) different college level courses that have ranged from "Education Research and Evaluation" to "Reading Effectiveness” and “Enhancing Teaching Skills.” Most importantly, he won the "Instructor of the Year" award twice. As a result, he was invited to advise the Massachusetts Board of Education on globalism.
His professional career development accomplishments included the leadership position “American Oversea Schools Instructor” and allowed him to travel to Bolivia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Republic of China. Eventually, he was asked by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to be a regional spokesperson. Specifically, at NASA he was assigned to work with the Advanced Research and Technology Center in Cambridge, MA and became an expert on the Apollo Mission project.
His extensive knowledge about continuous quality improvement has served him well as a building principal. In particular, he has helped school organizations understand how to bring about meaningful and lasting change.
Finally, Bill takes great pride in his National Education Association (NEA) activities. He has attended the NEA Representative Assembly for the last three years and is looking forward to this year's meeting in Chicago. Additionally he served on his town’s Finance Committee for six years and annually reviewed, analyzed, and made recommendations on $70,000,000 dollars worth of expenditure

Leah Flynn is currently in her fifth year as first grade teacher in the Brockton Public School System. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island. MARI GATES
Mari Gates has been teaching for over 10 years. She is currently working as a 5th grade teacher, but also has experience as a Special Education teacher. She received both a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education/Psychology and a Masters degree in Special Education from Bridgewater State College.
She lives in southeastern Massachusetts with her husband and daughter where they own cranberry bogs and have a cat named Oreo.
She has developed two courses for NCTA: Understanding AD/HD & Utilizing Interactive Notebooks and teaches several others. She is also a manuscript reviewer for Corwin Press.
She enjoys reading, learning, walking, being a Girl Scout leader, and camping with her family.
ARNOLD GOOD, Ph. D.
Arnold Good earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1964. He was an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Department Chair at the University of St. Francis in Joliet Illinois from 1969 to 1980. In 1980 he and his family moved to Massachusetts when he became the graduate dean at Framingham State College (now Framingham State University). He served as dean until his retirement in 2004. Dr. Good’s article on “Exploding the Ellipse” was the lead article in the March 1999 edition of The Mathematics Teacher, and his work on optimization appears in James Taylor’s text: Calculus: Concepts and Contexts. Dr. Good has received a teaching award from the University of Wisconsin, a service award from the State of Massachusetts and numerous awards for his work with the Boy Scouts of America; he has received an Honorary Doctor of Human Letters from the University of St. Francis. Since his retirement he has returned to his first love of college teaching and currently teaches for Bentley University, Cambridge College, and Framingham State University. He has two children and three grandchildren.

While a first grade teacher in Foxborough, MA, Jane began teaching mini courses for N.C.T.A. in the late 1980s. She enjoyed sharing her love of technology integration with colleagues. She received her B.S. in Education from Boston State and her Masters in Reading from Bridgewater State College. Edward J. Holland has been a dynamic Teacher, Department Head, Program Director and Senior Curriculum Access Specialist in the Boston Public Schools for many years. During this time, he has consistently provided leadership in coordinating the integration of Special Education and General Education services. He has been an integral part of the development and execution of programs for children with disabilities, particularly inclusion programs, while working as a teacher and administrator in different schools.
Through the blending of a sharp intellect, insightful interpersonal skills and superb organizational skills, Mr. Holland facilitated efforts to achieve not only accelerated MCAS results for special education students, but also regular ed. students.
He evaluated and analyzed both student and teacher performance within a comprehensive data-based framework and developed clear performance objectives with both, while providing training in innovative teaching practices, curriculum reform and instructional strategies. He also assisted in the development and presentation of a training and technical assistance program for educational staff in other school systems.
Ed is a member on the graduate school faculty at Framingham State College, where he has taught a variety of courses in the graduate program. As well he is a senior faculty member at Cambridge College.
He has 3 children, one still in college, and he recently celebrated his 34th wedding anniversary. He possesses a BA from Columbia University of NY City, and advanced degrees from Simmons College and UMass Boston. He is an inductee to his high school Hall of Fame (Boston Latin School ‘67).

SARA D. HURWITZ
Sara Hurwitz has practiced as a certified School Psychologist in both Massachusetts and Oregon. Additionally, she has been Nationally Certified as a School Psychologist (NCSP).
Sara Hurwitz completed her M.Ed. and a CAGS in school psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While studying at UMass, Sara was a collaborating researcher on a longitudinal research study examining the development of ADHD and ODD in preschool and school-aged children. She has coauthored four peer-reviewed journal articles based on her contribution to the work conducted by the Early Behavior Development Project.
Sara has been an Instructor with the Norfolk County Teachers Association for several years. Her current class offerings include 3 online courses: Understanding Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Prevention & Intervention of Bullying.

Meg Kennedy attended Assumption College earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Rehabilitation Services. Meg decided to return to school, entering the Post-Bachelaurette Certification Program through Bridgewater State University, receiving certification in Special Education.
Meg began her teaching career at the O’Donnell Middle School in Stoughton teaching sixth grade special education. She held this position for eight years while obtaining a Master of Education Degree from Cambridge College in Mental Health and School Adjustment Counseling.
While continuing to teach special education, Meg worked as a mental health counselor for Brocton Area Multi-Services. A school adjustment position became available at Stoughton High School in 2009 and Meg transferred to become one of two Adjustment Counselors at the high school level..
ANN LAMBERT
After practicing pharmacy for thirteen years, Ann decided to make a career change and received her Masters in Secondary Education from Eastern Nazarene College. She has been teaching science at King Philip High School since 1997. Ann achieved National Board Certification in 2002, with a specialization in chemistry. She has served on the King Philip mentor committee for many years and has been a consultant with Class Measures since 2006, working with teachers who are attaining professional licensure through the PRPIL program. Ann began teaching through the NCTA in 2009. She has received several honors including the King Philip Teachers Association Teacher of the Year, the Henry David Thoreau Foundation Certificate of Excellence, and the Christa’s Teachers Honor Roll, being named as a “Christa’s Teacher” by the Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Center for Education and Teaching Excellence.

Jeannette McNair has been a Massachusetts teacher for the past 32 years. She is currently a school librarian at North Junior High for the Brockton Public School System for the past 13 years. Prior to this position, she was an elementary classroom teacher in both the Attleboro Public Schools as well as Boston Public Schools. She has taught many grade levels that range from kindergarten to grade 8, and enjoys her current Librarian position, an extension of all her classroom experiences. She received her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Boston State College and achieved her masters in Education in Library Media from Bridgewater State College.

Elaine has taught and worked as an administrator over the last decade in suburban and urban schools in Massachusetts, California and New York. She holds a bachelors degree in English and Sociology from Boston College, a Masters degree in Elementary Education from UMASS Boston and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from Loyola Marymount University. Her focus over the last few years has been around culturally relevant pedagogy,the impact of urban charter schools, gendered education and the role of family in schools. Jennifer Measor-Hunter is currently anIntegrated-Sheltered English Instruction (I-SEI) first grade teacher. Jennifer has taught first and second grade in the Brockton Public Schools for the past six years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Bridgewater State University and has completed her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist from Wheelock College, Boston, Mass. Theodora Nikopolous is currently a math specialist at Heights Elementary School in Sharon, MA. She earned an Elementary Ed. degree and a Mathematics degree from Bridgewater State College. Kathy has had many jobs within the Canton Public Schools. She has been the 504 Coordinator, overseeing the elementary and high school, Title IX Coordinator, Civil Rights Compliance Officer, and teacher in the Wellness Department.
She started a program at Canton called START which stands for Students and Teachers Advocating Respect and Tolerance. While the advisor to SADD and the Multicultural Club, she presented a Professional Development Program for Canton in Safe Schools and Civil Rights. She was an integral part of the original committees that wrote the Schools Anti-Harassment Policy and Safe Schools Manual.
Kathy has also been an active member of her local and state associations. She served as President of the Canton Teachers Association for 13 years and developed Canton's mentoring program. In addition, she been a presenter at MTA's Summer Leadership Conference, and has spoken at the National Board Certified Teachers Conventions in Orlando and San Diego on the importance of Mentoring new Teachers
For the last several years, she has taught for the NCTA, rotating several courses. She loves teaching teachers.

Eileen Page has a Master of Arts Degree in Critical and Creative Thinking from the University of Massachusetts in Boston and a published Master’s thesis entitled, “Exploring Graphokinesics Critically and Creatively.”
After retiring from a twenty-year career as an elementary reading teacher, she continued to develop her business as a handwriting consultant and to study the many complex aspects of personality in order to create courses on character education, the at-risk personality and the development of effective social skills.
As a Master Graphoanalyst, Eileen’s work includes tutoring individuals in penmanship and teaching penmanship courses using her published instructional manual entitled, A Humanistic Approach to Penmanship. In addition to this, she is court qualified to identify writers of anonymous notes, forged documents and do personality profiling. She lectures locally to various groups, does in service programs for schools, and travels nationally to speak to other handwriting experts.
JOHN PAPPAS
John Pappas studied English Literature, Music Performance and Composition, and Film Studies at the College of the Holy Cross. He has his Masters Degree in Education from Boston College. Currently, John teaches Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, Semantics and Theories of Violence in American Culture at Weymouth High School in Weymouth, MA, where he has taught for the past 11 years. John enjoys reading, metafiction, travelling, composing and performing music, media studies, film and, most of all, being a dad. A drummer with the now-defunct Boston-based punk rock band Heather Hates You, John enjoyed touring the United States and recording two critically-acclaimed CDs; he now performs with the Seven Hills Symphony Orchestra as a timpanist and percussionist. His poetry has been published in several journals, most recently in Bottle Rockets, a forum for Japanese short-form poetry.

Jennifer (Iamele) Savage received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Teaching from the University of New Hampshire and her Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Framingham State College. Jennifer currently works as a high school English teacher at Oliver Ames High School (OAHS) in Easton. In addition to her role as teacher at OAHS, Jennifer is also an active member of her district's curriculum planning committee as well as an advisor for her a student literary publication, and the faculty advisor for Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). Presently Jennifer is certified to teach English grades K-12 and has experience working with English Language Learners. Having co-taught an inclusion classroom with a special education teacher, Jennifer has experience working directly with students with diverse learning needs as well. In recent years she has been working more actively in curriculum and literacy development.

JUDITH SPITZBERG
Judith Spitzberg, Creative Arts Director of the Metro West Day School, has a unique talent for devising imaginative techniques to integrate music with all facets of education. Judith publishes music curriculum using the arts to reinforce concepts in science, history and language arts which has been used by the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Department of Education and the Canton Public Schools. In 2004, she received the American Music Foundation Award for creative lesson plans which used dance, poetry, music and art to explore the music of Aaron Copland.
Judith has taught music and music education for the past 25 years at many schools and museums throughout Greater Boston. She also runs graduate arts courses and professional development workshops to classrooms teachers and specialists at all educational levels. This year Judith is teaching in Israel with the Israel Philharmonic Department of Education and at Bar Ilan University working on modern music with the arts in collaboration with the world renowned composer, Tzvi Avni.

Jen Yurof has been teaching for 10 years. She is currently a part time Computer Literacy Teacher and Technology Coordinator for The Literacy Center in Attleboro, MA. Prior to this position, she was an elementary classroom teacher in both the Foxborough Public Schools as well as the Franklin Public Schools. She has taught first, second, third and fifth grades as well as summer school courses for high school students. She received her Bachelors from Connecticut College and her Masters in Education from Fitchburg State College. She lives in Plainville with her husband and daughters.
